Labour warranty extension

The purchaser may benefit from an extension of the contractual warranty in order to partially cover any repair or replacement costs for the engine purchased from GPA during its two-year warranty period. To benefit from the ‘Labour’ warranty extension, the client must simultaneously purchase a used GPA engine as well as the new peripheral components that must be replaced: timing kit, water pump, thermostat as well as air, oil and fuel filters. The other components that must be replaced (oil, coolant, spark plugs and spinnaker seals) do not have to be purchased from GPA in order to benefit from the extension.

1. PURPOSE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY

When the warranty extension is validated by the after-sales service (see specific conditions in the first part of this booklet), GPA will pay part of the labour costs associated with the repairs or replacements required to restore the engine to its defective condition. Under no circumstances does this warranty extension cover any other costs incurred by the Client, particularly in respect of spare parts, fluids and consumables used during the repairs concerned or costs relating to breakdown recovery, towing, parking or vehicle hire. Labour costs relating to the initial installation of the engine are not covered by this extended warranty.

2. PROCEDURE AND AMOUNT OF COVER

The amount of labour involved in repairs or replacement is estimated on the basis of the repairer's estimate as soon as the warranty cover is validated, with the agreement of the GPA after-sales service and, where applicable, on the advice of the expert appointed by the latter.

The amount agreed is a contribution to the cost of the dismantling operations required to determine the origin and extent of the damage, as well as the cost of repairs (labour only). This amount is established according to the manufacturer's scale, within the limit of 10 hours in total, and at the hourly rate defined by GPA, i.e. €40 excluding VAT as at 01/06/2019. In all cases, the amount covered by the cost of replacing or restoring all or part of the engine may not exceed its purchase value.

3. EXCLUSIONS AND FORFEITURE

When it is established that the cause of the breakdown results from a cause not covered by the contractual warranty (please refer to the specific warranty conditions for second-hand engines), all costs resulting from said breakdown will remain the exclusive responsibility of the Client.
